degree of doctor of music, honoris
causa, from the Jewish Theological
Seminary of
America at the
2002 convocation
Jan. 28.
In a letter, Rabbi
Ismar Schorsch,
chancellor of the
seminary, wrote, "I
have the honor and
privilege to inform
you that the faculty

and board of
trustees of the
Jewish Theological Seminary have
voted unanimously to confer upon
you the degree of doctor of music. By
so doing, we wish to recognize pub-
licly the contributions that you have
made during your active career in the
cantorate.”

A women's seder, co-sponsored by the
Women's Campaign and Education
Department of the Jewish Federation
of Metropolitan Detroit, will welcome
women in the community, ages 12
and up, 6 p.m. on Thursday, March
14, at Adat Shalom Synagogue.
The seder will give women of each
generation an opportunity to share
the spirituality of Passover. Leading
the seder will be Rabbi Amy Bolton
with Cantor Lori Corrsin.
A special Passover Haggadah with
additional readings highlighting hid-
den heroines throughout Jewish histo-
ry was prepared for the seder.
Carol Weintraub Fogel is the event
chair and Abbe Binder Sherbin is the
associate chair. Paula Glazier serves as
president of the Women's Campaign
and Educational Department. Barbara
Kappy is vice president and Terran
Leemis is the adviser.
The cost, which includes a Passover
meal, is $36 per person, payable in
