n spite of the sluggish economy and
auto layouts, Detroit can still throw a
spectacular party when automobiles and
charity are involved. The North
American International Auto Show Charity
Preview, one of the largest single-night fund-
raising events in the world, again raised a
record-breaking amount of funds for 11 local
charities benefiting children. It is esti-
mated the gala raised more than $6
million.
More than 17,000 patrons, who
paid $350 per ticket, attended the
auto show gala Jan. 11, the night
before the event opened to the public.
, This year the black-tie partygoers rev-
eled in warm weather instead of the
usual sleet and snow.
The event lasted from 6-9 p.m. and
then most of the crowd attended more
parties. The Children's Center in
Detroit, established in 1929 as one of
the nation's first child-guidance clinics,
hosted the Auto Glow 2002! at the
Roostertail. Lois Shaevsky helped
organize the party, where patrons

dined and danced all night. The band of Mel
Ball and Colours entertained the glitzy
crowd.
Some of the glamorous people spotted at
the Charity Preview included Richard and
Shelley Golden, Seth Golden, Al and Debbie
Muskovitz, Gale'and Larry Lawson, Carol
and. Rick Ruby, Debbie and Ron Rader,
Marsha and Marty Feldman, Eugene and
Marcia Applebaum, Pamela Applebaum
Wyett, Joe Ryan, Abbe and David Sherbin,
Dov and Judith Shenkman, and Mindy and
Harry Siegel.

Women to Watch

Judge Nanci Grant was featured in the fall
issue of Jewish Woman,
published by Jewish
Women International,
in the article "Ten
Women to Watch in
5762". The piece on
Grant, Linking the
Court to the
Community, was writ-
ten by Debra Darvick.
The article mentions
Grant's ability to con-
Judge Nanci
nect with the community Grant
and her diligence in the
courtroom.

I. Eugene and Marcia
Applebaum, Pamela
Applebaum Wyett and
Joe Ryan all enjoyed
the Charity Preview.

ly affair. Richard Golden (right) attended with
wife, Shelley and son, Seth.

3. Ron and Debbie Rader, Carol and Rick Ruby
