Outdoor Sculpture!, a national project
to preserve the nation's public sculp-
tures. The 8500 honorable mention
prize was for her book, The Outdoor
Museum: The Magic of Michigan's
Marshall M. Fredericks, which invites
adults and children to learn about the
public sculptures in Michigan by
Marshall Fredericks.

The Great Lakes Yacht Club of St.
Clair Shores elected new officers for
the 2002 season. The new bridge con-
sists of Arnold Lantor, commodore;
Dr. Herb Gardner, vice commodore;
Donald Cutler, rear commodore;
Richard Ketchel, secretary; Arthur
Golumbia, treasurer. The club was
founded in 1952 as a haven for Jewish
sailors.

Zachary Zucker of West Bloomfield,
an eighth-grade student at Orchard
Lake Middle School in West
Bloomfield, won the school-level com-
petition of the National Geographic
Bee and a chance at a $25,000 scholar-
ship. The school-level bee, at which
students answered oral questions on
geography, was the first round iii the
14th annual National Geographic Bee.
