Mrs. Sol Nusbaum.
Beth Medrash Govoha, the largest
kollel for advanced Torah, was
founded in 1943 by Rabbi Aaron
Kolter. Many of the 3,200 students
are from the Detroit area.
The local kollel in Oak Park was
founded by Beth Medrash Govoha.
The graduates have founded 40
branches of Torah learning centers in
America and world wide.

Michael Bel of Tam O'Shanter
Country Club in West Bloomfield
will be the guest chef at a cooking
demonstration and tasting event
arranged by the Adat Shalom
Synagogue Sisterhood 6:30 p.m.
Thursday, Jan. 24. It is the first of a
three-part cooking series.
Chef Bel will prepare a variety of
vegetarian hors d'oeuvres, providing
the participants with tastings and
recipes to take home.
The series will continue on
Thursdays, Feb. 28 and April 25. In
February, Michael Laiskonis, pastry
chef from Tribute in Farmington
Hills, will prepare desserts. At the
April event, Matt Prentice of the
Bingham Farms-based Unique
Restaurant Corp. will be the featured
chef.
There is a $36 charge for all three
programs or a $15 fee for individual
sessions. Chairs are Lauren. Rosenberg
and Sandi Duschinsky.

Jews, Politics
Focus Of Talk

Dr. David Dalin, rabbi and published
American Jewish historian, will speak,
on the contemporary political situa-
tion and its implication on the Jewish
community on Monday, Jana 14, at
two presentations.
A noontime luncheon topic will
be "Jews and American Politics
Before and After Sept. 11," at
Congregation Shaarey Zedek
Southfield.
He will speak 7:30 p.M. at
Congregation Beth Ahm on .
"Presidents of the United States,
Israeli Politics and American Jews."
Dalin is sponsored by the
Conservative Movement Scholar In
Residence Program, which brings
together all five Detroit-based
Conservative congregations.
Dalin serves as adjunct professor
of history at the Jewish Theological
Seminary of America, where he
received his ordination. He is a
member of the Academic Advisory
Council of the American Jewish
Historical Society.
Both lectures are open to the pub-
lic at no charge. There is a charge for

B'nai Moshe
Plans Family Fun

Congregation B'nai Moshe will hold a
Mishpacha Minyan, a Shabbat service
for children ages 3-5 accompanied by
parents, grandparents and/or other
special adult in their lives, 11-11:40
a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 12. This free,
drop-in monthly series is open to the
community.
On Sunday, Jan: 13, children ages
3-7 are invited with their parents
and/or grandparents to meet a "real"
storybook character and to learn
about Sefer Safari, a 10-week, inde-
pendent Jewish reading program.
On Sunday, Jan. 20, participants
may attend Shhhhhema, a Jewish bed-
time program developed by the Jewish
Experiences For Families for children
ages 4-9 accompanied by their par-
ents, grandparents and/or other spe-
cial adult. The program runs from 10-
11:30 a.m.
Friday, Jan. 25, to Sunday, Jan. 27,
the congregation's annual family
weekend will take place.
