Stephanie Brooke Lazar will celebrate
her bat mitzvah at Temple Israel on
Friday, Jan. 11. Her parents are Joan and
Thomas Lazar.
Sharing in the sim-
chah are Eta Lazar
and Ruth Maldaver.
She is also the grand-
child of the late
Berko Lazar and the
late Maurice
Maldaver.
An honor student
at Walled Lake Middle School, Stephanie
enjoys ballet, tap, ja7z and hip-hop in
addition to music and water sports.
Volunteering at the Danto Family Health
Care Center in West Bloomfield was her
most meaningful mitzvah project.

Alicia Rae Mendelson (Aviva Rachel) of
West Bloomfield will become a bat mitz-
vah at Hillel Day School of Metropolitan
Detroit in Farmington Hills on Monday;
Jan. 14. Participating in the ceremony
will be her parents, Susan and David
Mendelson, and her brothers, Avery and
Ethan Mendelson. Her proud grandpar-

Alicia attends sev-
enth grade at Hillel
Day School of Metropolitan Detroit. She
is active in soccer and cheerleading. Her
interests include art, photography, com-
puter and dance. Her mitzvah projects
include volunteering at Temple Emanu-
El's summer day camp program and
working with the Detroit Jewish
Coalition on Literacy. Books brought by
guests at her party will be delivered to
Pepper Elementary School in Oak Park
and Alicia will read some of the stories to
the children.
