The Jewish Community Center of
Metropolitan Detroit has basketball
offerings for the winter.
The JCC has joined with Junior
NBA and Junior WNBA (in associa-
tion with Gatorade and Nike) to
enhance the Kenny Goldman
Basketball League for children.
The league consists of one game
and one practice each week and runs
Jan. 20-March 20. There will be a
K-1, 2-3 and 4-6 grade level divi-
sions. There will also be a middle
school division that will only have
games. Games will be played on
Sundays at the JCC in West
Bloomfield.
A draft to determine teams will
be held Jan. 20 at 1 p.m. for K-1;
2:15 p.m. for 2-3; 3:30 p.m. for 4-
6; 5 p.m. for middle school.
Participants also have the oprion to
register as a ream with a coach.
The league fee for individuals is
S55 for JCC members and S85 for
nonmembers. The charge to enter as
a team, which has a minimum of
seven players and a maximum of 10
is $650. All players will get a team
shirt and a trophy.
For high school-age athletes, an
eight-week co-ed high school bas-
ketball league will be offered.
Games will take place Monday
evenings from 7-10 p.m. and begin
Jan. 2 1 . All players will receive a
team jersey. Teams are also responsi-
ble for paying the officials that the
JCC provides.
