Commur
fifth year with this session.
The group will meet 7-8:30 p.m.
Tuesday at the synagogue for 10
weeks beginning Jan. 15. During
the course of the group, participants
will:
• Explore how religious beliefs
and Jewish practices can be used as
strategies to help patients feel more
in control of the cancer experience;
• Explore personal spirit-building
with hands-on experiences;
• Identify the tools available with-
in Judaism — such as one's belief in
God, prayer and ritual — that can
provide comfort, hope and coping
and reframe negative thoughts into
positive ones;
• Be supported by others living
through a similar experience.
Therapist Brenda Beron and social
worker Patricia Milner Sachs, both
cancer survivors, will lead the
group. To register, call Pat Sachs by
Jan.10 at 800-KARMANOS (800)
527-6266 or at (248) 354-4188.
There is no charge.
