Biological Safe Room

Dewitt Building Company Inc. is a premier building
company operating in Southeastern Michigan.

efforts from Yeager Engineering Inc. and Griffen
International L.L.C. has developed a biological safe

JCC Plans
Dance for 75th

The Jewish Community Center's
75th anniversary celebration will be
highlighted by a black-tie dinner
dance 5:30 p.m. Sunday, April 14,
at the JCC in West Bloomfield.
Florine Mark Ross and Ronald Rich
will chair the event.
The JCC will pay tribute to past
presidents at the celebration. They
are Milton Alexander, Milford
Stern, Nate Shapero, Meyer Prentis,
Charles Rubiner. Henry Meyers,
Mrs. Samuel Glowgower, Hymen
Broder, Samuel Rubiner, Morris
Garvett, Harvey Goldman, Jacob
Keidan, Samuel Frankel, Charles
Gershenson, Milton Miller, George
Keil, N. Brewster Broder, Richard
Kux, High Greenberg, Joel Tauber,
Thomas Klein, Charles Stone,
Robert Slatkin, Sidney Freedland,
Richard Maddin, Linda Lee, Irwin
Elson, Douglas Bloom, Harry
Eisenberg and Lawrence Wolfe.
The calendar of anniversary events
will continue with an educational
program on March 19, a photo
exhibit at both JCC locations in
April. There will be a family carnival
and birthday event June 9 at the
JCC in Oak Park.
JCC past presidents Linda Lee
and Douglas Bloom are overall
chairs of the anniversary events.
Event chairs are Irwin Alterman and
Mrs. Lee, annual meeting; Hannan
Lis and Reva Rosen, Klezmatics
concert; Sharon Alternam and
Barbara Bloom, photo exhibit;
Debbie Levin, education program;
Malke Torgow and David Morrison,
birthday carnival.
All anniversary activities are open
to the public. Invitations to the din-
ner dance will be mailed in
February.

JCC Hosts
Family Fun Day

The Jewish Community Center of
Metropolitan Detroit will host a
Family Fun Day 10:30 a.m.-1:30
p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 25, at both JCC
locations.
The event will include a moon-
walk, carnival games with prizes and
open swimming at both locations.

The JCC in West Bloomfield also
will have contests, trivia and open
skating at the InLine Hockey
Center. A helmet, knee and elbow
pads and skates with no brakes are
requi red.
The JCC in Oak Park will have
arts and crafts activities and movies
and popcorn. The swim hours at the
Oak Park building include an hour
of women-only swimming from 10-
11 a.m., coed swimming from 11
a.m.-1 p.m. and men-only swim-
ming from 1-1:30 p.m.
The cost is $5 per JCC member
family and $10 per non-JCC mem-
ber family in Oak Park; $10 per
family in West Bloomfield.

Fifth Graders
Give Tzedakah

Fifth-grade students in Detroit-area
congregational and day schools will
participate in the Tzedakah
Experience from 9:30-11:45 a.m.
Sunday, Jan. 27, at Temple Beth El.
The Tzedakah Experience is a
hands-on event that teaches young
students about the activities of the
Jewish Federation of Metropolitan
Detroit's partner agencies and other
local agencies that support the
Jewish community.
Prior to the event, schools will
teach a specially prepared "Helping
Hands" curriculum created by the
Agency for Jewish Education and
will participate in the Penny
Harvest, collecting and recycling
pennies that will be dropped off at
the Tzedakah Experience and allo-
cated by the students to the agen-
cies.
Cookie Gonik and Beth Margolin
will co-chair the Tzedakah
Experience. Laurie Goldmeier is
associate chair.
Roz Blanck is the chair of Penny
Harvest. Associate chairs are Jodi
Goodman and Margot Gardner.
Penny donations may be dropped
off at Jewish religious schools or at
Temple Beth El on the day of the
event. Prior to the event date,
money may be given to fifth-grade
Jewish congregational and day
school students who are collecting
donations.
