"Great work
Gittleman"

That was certainly the case with Ingrid and Michael Day.
who had experience building previous homes prior to
selecting Gittleman Construction to provide roughly
1,800 square feet of addition and renovation space to
their 1960's Bloomfield Township residence.
We have done a lot of building," Ingrid said. " We've
never had a process go as smoothly as our job with
Gittleman. They said we would be out and back within
six months and they were true to their word. It's now
been about two years, and we've had no problems.
"Gittleman really knew what they were doing and it
showed. I'd recommend them to anyone."

Tel Aviv/JTA — There were 1.16 mil-
lion Israelis living below the poverty
line last year.
This represented a small increase
over the previous year, when the total
stood at 1.13 million, according to
statistics issued Monday by Israel's
National Insurance Institute.
Though small, the increase in 2000
came during a year in which the econ-
omy expanded at a rate of 6 percent
and salary levels climbed. Among
those living below the poverty line in
2000 were about 510,000 children.

Four Gunmen
Killed In Gaza

Gaza City/JTA — Palestinian mili-
tants vowed revenge after Israeli heli-
copters killed four Palestinian gunmen
in the Gaza Strip.
Responding to what Israel called fire
from a "terrorist squad," the helicop-
ters opened fire early Wednesday
morning on targets near the Khan
Yunis refugee camp. Palestinian
sources accused Israel of assassinating
members of the Abu Rish Brigades, an
armed, breakaway faction of

Palestinian Authority leader Yasser
Arafat's Farah group.

Preparing For

New Warfare

Tel Aviv/JTA — Israel's emergency
services have been told to be on high
alert until mid-January.
The Israel Defense Force chief of
staff, Lt. Gen. Shaul Mofaz, this week
warned all branches of Israel's emer-
gency services to prepare for terror
attacks, particularly unconventional
warfare, the Israeli daily Yediot
Achronot reported.
According to recent reports, there
were pesticides in the bombs set off by
two Palestinian suicide bombers last
week in Jerusalem. Israel is not proper-
ly prepared for unconventional war-
fare, according to a recent report in

Yediot.

The country's emergency services
lack manpower and the proper equip-
ment and their response time is too
slow, the report said.

Another Terror
Victim Dies

Jerusalem/JTA — The 11th victim of
the Dec. 1-2 suicide bombings in
Jerusalem died Saturday night. Ido
Cohen, 17, was critically wounded in
the Dec. 1 attacks on the Ben-Yehuda
pedestrian mall.
Cohen, who was in a coma with
severe head wounds, had never
regained consciousness.

U.S. Renews
Travel Warning

Washington/JTA — The United States
renewed its travel warning for Israel,
the West Bank and Gaza Strip. The
State Department renewed the warn-
ing because of the Dec. 1-2 suicide
attacks in Jerusalem and Haifa.
The warning also said Americans in
the region should stay away from
buses, malls and restaurants. American
should only go to Jerusalem's Old City
during the daytime, the State
Department added.
