Jerusalem/JTA — The
weekend suicide bombings
that claimed the lives of 25
Israelis are but the latest
chapter in a long series of
terror attacks launched by
Palestinians against Israeli
targets.
The following timeline
lists terror attacks since the
latest Palestinian intifada
(uprising) began in late
September 2000:

by bomber on bicycle in
Gaza Strip.

The Look Of Terror
Jewish Settlers First
"Arafat didn't want a state next to Israel; he wanted a
state instead of Israel," Netanyahu said. And the
" constant rumbling that this is not our land' is more
insidious than anything else."
The Jews were there first, settling the land at great
cost at the turn of the last century, said Netanyahu,
whose great-grandfather was "one of the only
meshuggeners [crazy people] who came to Israel in
the 19th century from America to start a farm."
Early settlers faced disease and lack of food and
water. Once they made the land manageable, Arabs
came from the surrounding countries to work as
migrant farm laborers, he said. Between the two
world wars, the Arab population swelled five-fold.
"Jews were already there," he said.
Ken Lipschutz of Bloomfield Hills agreed with
Netanyahu's stance. "I thought he was phenomenal,
he's right on target and he's got a message that I
don't hear on CNN [Cable News Network].." he
said.
Emery Klein of Southfield said the lesson from the
former prime minister was all too clear. "We got a
lesson that -we don't have to be continuously apolo-
getic and appeasers, but we should stand up for our
rights and not be afraid what the world says," said
Klein. "The appeasers and the apologists belong to
the ghetto, not here." Li

Some thought that if the United States bombs
Afghanistan, 1 billion Muslims would revolt. But
when the U.S. understood the imperative for victory
and went ahead, just the opposite happened, he said.
Taliban forces began to defect.
Netanyahu said Israel is using the same three prin-
ciples in their fight against terrorism.
"Afghanistan or Arafaristan,' there is no differ-
ence," he said.
Netanyahu said former Prime Minister Ehud
Barak offered what Arafat wanted at the last meeting
in Camp David. "And what did Arafat do? He
chuckled," Netanyahu said.
Netanyahu, on a national speaking tour, said noth-
ing justifies blowing up children, buses or the World
Trade Center. "If vou justify that, the next thing
blown up" will be an entire city."

now only guarantee an excess of

many Americans would participate.

It's the second year USY has

other parents that USY is 150
