Hebrew Memorial Chapel with interment
at Shaar Hashomayim Cemetery.

IDA CHARLIP, 86, of Southfield, died
Dec. 1.
She is survived by her sons and daugh-
ters-in-law, Marshall and Sharon Charlip
of Huntington Woods, Edward and Linda
Charlip of Chicago; daughter, Barbara
Charlip of Southfield; grandchildren,
Maureen (Chad) Scott, Ashley Haverson;
great-grandchildren, Veronika and Cleo
Scour. She was the beloved wife of the late
Charles H. Charlip; beloved mother of the
late Robert Charlip.
Contributions may be made to Yad Ezra
or Hadassah's Doll Project. Interment at
Adat Shalom Memorial Park.

CHARLO FIE YUNIS COHEN, 85,
formerly of Michigan of Key West, Fla.,
died Nov., 24.
She is survived by her sisters and broth-
er-in-law. Esther Singer, Eleanor Brown,
Molly and Pat Benton; brother, John
Yunis. She was the beloved wife of the late
Bernard Cohen.
Interment in Key West.

GERTRUDE EHRENFELD, 82, of
Southfield, died Dec. 2.
She is survived by her children, Carol
and Dr. Bert Bez of Okemos, Dr. David
Ehrenfeld of Benicia, Calif, Peggy and
Allyn Lite of lvlontclair, N.J.; sister, Dr.
Jeanette Fried of Southfield; grandchildren,
Dr. Douglas (Maureen) Bez, Joel (Leslie )
Bez, Joshua Lite, Jordan Lite; great-grand-
children, Hannah, Alex, David, Bradley
and Brooke Bez. She was the beloved wife
of the late Adolf Ehrenfeld.

BENJAMIN B. GAMBURD, 78, of
Farmington Hills died Nov. 30.
He is survived by his beloved wife,
Helen Gamburd; son and daughter-in-law,
Robert and Betsy Gamburd of Palo Alto,
Calif; daughters, Beth Gamburd of
Farmington Hills, Nancy Gamburd of
Chicago; brother-in-law, Oscar Berris; sis-
ter-in-law, Gerri Gamburd; grandchildren,
Jocelyn and David Gamburd.

ROSE GIMAN, 85, of Southfield, died
Nov. 28.
She is survived by her daughter and son-
in-law, Dorothy and Howard Small of
West Bloomfield; son and daughter-in-law,
William and Brenda Giman of Kendall
Park, NJ.; sister, Itsu Fogel of Karkun,
Israel; grandchildren, Nicholas and
Zachary Small.
Interment at Temple Israel Gardens of
Beth El Cemetery. Contributions may be

HYMAN "HY" HORENSTEIN, 90, of
Southfield, died Nov. 23, 2001.
Mr. Horenstein was the only surviving
member of the deli
Horenstein brothers, who
had Brother's Deli on
Dexter Blvd.
Mr. Horenstein was
only 11 years old when
he started in the deli
game on Hastings and
Farnsworth; he was a bus-

boy and dishwasher at the
Horenstein
original Boesky's for
owner Sam Boesky and
helped to cut corned beef in the basement.
His first delicatessen, called Hy
Horenstein's, was on Farmer and Monroe
in Detroit. Then came the one on Second
Blvd. between Willis and Canfield , then 6
Mile and Santa Barbara in 1942 followed
by Dexter and Boston Blvd. with partner
Mike Selik. Later he moved to Livernois
and 7 Mile.
He is survived by his sons and daughter-
in-law, Raymond and Barbara Horenstein
of Farmington Hills, Joe Horenstein of
Oak Park; daughter and son-in-law, Anne
and Fernando Galindo of Hamilton, Ont.
Canada; grandchildren, Michelle (Jason)
Rosenfeld, Kari (Nickolas) Coburn, Chris
(special friend Jennifer Juhlke) Galindo,
Jason Galindo, Meegan Horenstein,
Charles "Chalkey" Horenstein. Hy was the
beloved husband of the late Helen
Horenstein.
Interment was at Machpelah cemetery
in Ferndale. Contributions may be made
to any charity of your choice.
Arrangements by the Dorfman Chapel.

ARTHUR KARMAZIN, 79, of Livonia,
died Dec. 3.
He is survived by his beloved wife,
Rachel Karmazin; daughter and son-in-
law, Linda and David Brandemihl of
Livonia; grandchildren, Adam Brandemihl
and Deborah Stewart.
Interment at the Hebrew Memorial Park
Cemetery. Contributions may be made to
