It's A Jewish Food Jamboree!

he first Pomegranate Event of
the Women's Campaign and
Education Department of the
Jewish Federation debuted
recently at the Farmington Hills home
of Florine Mark. The event recognized
women who contributed between
$1,800 and $4,999 to the Annual
Campaign. Some 75 donors attended
the event.
Pomegranate is named in the Bible
and is a symbol of Jewish life. Each
pomegranate is said to contain 613
seeds, one for each mitzvot mentioned
in the Torah.
The keynote speaker was Naomi
Wolf, an author and feminist. Wolf
spoke about the importance of leader-
ship. '`Jewish women have qualities that
have developed over the generations, and
they bring great gifts of leadership to the
world," said Wolf, who is president of
the Woodhall Institute. The institute

offers a fellowship program teaching
essential skills and training young
women in ethical leadership and profes-
sional development..
Wolf also spoke about the power of
philanthropy "When you giving, you
are a powerful person, you can demon-
strate your voice."
Lynn Rubin was chair of the event,
while Judy Kepes was associate chair.
Many of the committee members
stressed the importance of giving and
not to forget that Jewish organizations
still need help during and after the
recent national tragedies.
