Fountams Honors Sidney Charness

The Fountains at Franklin in
Southfield recently honored one of its
former residents when the senior
retirement community renamed its
luncheon cafe and store Sid's Place in
memory of Sidney Charness.
Charness, who passed away in
May, had been a resident at the
Fountains at Franklin for two years
and had volunteered tirelessly in the
cafe, formerly called the.Franklin
Nook.
On NOV. 7, the cafe was dedicated
in a ceremony attended by members
of the Charness family and friends.
"We've lost .a very special friend

with Sid's passing," said Executive
Director Richard Howell. "It was an
honor for all of us to know Sid and
we all miss him very much."
Prior to Charness' death, he had
been nominated for the Spirit Award,
a company-wide recognition for resi-
dents nominated in the company's 18
communities nationwide.
Following his death, the awards
program was dedicated to his memo-
rY.
Sid's Place serves both as a cafe for
lunch and a store for convenience
items for the 250 residents living at
the Fountains at Franklin.
