Hillel Recycles
To Raise Funds

Hillel Day School of Metropolitan
Detroit in Farmington Hills is recycling
inkjet, laser, copy and fax cartridges.
The fund raiser was spotted by PTO
President Nancy Adler on a Web site.
Spent cartridges are worth up to $8
each, with the recycling company send-
ing prepaid labels for shipping. The
fund-raiser teaches students the impor-
tance of being shomrei adamah, keepers
of the earth, by helping to stop waste
and raising money at the same time. -
Hi
PTO recycling committee is
Shari Bross, Cindy Cohen, Nancy Glen,
Sandy Lippirt and Lucinda Rosen.
Hillel PTO will accept any cartridge
except ribbon types. They are requesting
that the larger empty laser, toner and fax
cartridges be put into the packages that
contained their replacement. The small-
er inkjet cartridges can also be put in
the replacement packaging or into bag-
gies to prevent leaking or smudging.
Unpackaged cartridges will also be
accepted. The cartridges can be dropped
off at any time the school is open or
given to a Hillel student to bring in.
Hillel PTO encourages local business-
es to donate cartridges through a
Business Partnership Agreement for
Cartridge Recycling. Call the school
development office: (248) 8512-6950.

Career options for people with developmental disabilities

are often limited. But with the support of JVS, Leonard
Brown learned important job skills and worked for years at a
local restaurant. When it was time to retire, he decided to
participate in the JVS Activities Program. Quality activities -
help older individuals with developmental disabilities and
special needs stay active and involved in the community.
Leonard loves life. Through JVS, he's able to live it to the

fullest. That's what Jewish values are about.
