Michelle is an eighth-grade honor
student at Norup Middle School in
Oak Park. Her summers are spent at
Tamarack Camps and she is a member
of the B'nai B'rith Youth Organization.
Michelle's mitzvah project was to par-
ticipate in programs at the Coville
Apartments in Southfield and at
Fountains of Franklin. She also volun-
teered by serving food at the Coalition
On Temporary Shelter, preparing sha-
lach manot baskets at the Max M.
Fisher Federation Building in
Bloomfield Township, helping at Yad
Ezra in Oak Park and making dolls for
hospitalized children. Michelle also
enjoys music, computers and ice skat-
ing. She is attending Beth Shalom's
Hebrew high school.

Scott Ryan Kirsch will celebrate his bar
mitzvah at Temple Israel on Friday,
Nov. 30. He is the son of Cheryl and
Rick Kirsch and brother of Amy and
Danny Proud grandparents are Bobbi
and Jack Kirsch and Anne and Norman
Saulles.
A student at West
Hills Middle School
in Bloomfield Hills,
where he is on the
basketball and tennis
teams, Scott enjoys
soccer, golf, baseball
and attending
Tamarack Camps. As
part of his mitzvah
projects, he volunteered when Temple
Israel housed the homeless.

Sanford Evan Nelson will be called to
the Torah as a bar mitzvah on Saturday,
Dec. 1, at Congregation Shaarey Zedek.
He is the son of Michelle and Linden
Nelson and brother of Arielle. Sharing
in this simchah are proud grandparents
Lois and Harry Nelson and Judy
Weiner and equally proud great-grand-
mothers Betty Weiner and Ada Linden.
Sandy is also the
grandchild of the late
Sanford Weiner.
Sandy is a double-
honor student at
Hillel Day School of
Metropolitan Detroit
in Farmington Hills.
He loves tennis, in-
line skating, skiing
and all watersports. He also enjoys
spending summers at Camp Walden in
Cheboygan. Mitzvah projects included
raising money and participating in the
Tour de Cure, a bicycling event to raise
funds for the American Diabetes
Association and organizing a book drive
for the Jewish Coalition for Literacy.
