Mrs. Borman was a graduate of Eastern Michigan University and served as a volunteer social worker during World War II. Her activities in the Detroit commu- nity were widespread. She was presi- dent of the Detroit Chapter of the Denver League for Asthmatic Children, president of a chapter of Women's American ORT, a member of both Congregation Shaarey Zedek and Adat Shalom Synagogue. In addition, she belonged to Hadassah and was a staunch supporter of the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit, the Jewish Friends of Hebrew University, Wayne State University and Yeshiva Beth Yehudah. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Murray Sheckter; grandchildren, Steven and Ilene Gilbert, Julie and-Jim Cahill, Joanie and Roni Peled, Nancy and Doron Porat; 12 great-grandchildren; brother and sisters-in-law, Paul and Joyce Pensler, Gertrude Pensler, Frances Pensler, Irene Kraft Pensler. She was the loving wife of the late Nathan Weingarden and the late Abraham Borman; mother of the late Janet Gilbert; sister of the late Meyer Pensler, the late Leslie Pensler, the late Maxwell Pensler, the late Dorothy (Al) Kaufman.
