He loved the mandelbread, too, that Ron purchased regularly from Evelyn Bergman and her daughter, Arlene Kingston ... from the recipe of Evelyn's mother, Yetta Novitz ... So much so, that he and Arlene have joined forces ... and call their operation the Heavenly Baking Co. ... making and wholesaling Michigan cherry mandelbread ... now also found in supermarkets. Difficult to believe that Vineyards is the same one that opened from a small, almost burned-out little spot on Northwestern Highway 16 years ago ... to making his own bread, cookies, etc., too. Envisioning the transformation only brings a shake of the head ... But even back then was a strange sense of there not being too many things that would keep Ron Asmar from a greater avenue of success. He was continually looking for new products, new things to do, new worlds to conquer ... and new friends to make. Like I said, the road to Ron Asmar's success has not been an easy one ... A lot of hours ... A lot of constant hard work ... and a lot of dreams ... has been built into a flourishing business that is still growing ... with no stop signs in sight for the future.
