Stars and
Stripes

Local clothier sells
patriotic ties.

T

he Shirt Box in Farmington
Hills is now selling silk
American flag ties in three
different styles. The red,
white and blue ties are designed with
stripes, stars and flags. The styles are
traditional and trendy. Each tie sells
for $25 and from now until January
31, 2001, the Shirt Box will donate
$15 from the sale of each tie to the
Farmington Hills Fire Department.
"These ties are very well done and
would make a wonderful holiday
gift," says Ron Elkus, owner of the
Shirt Box. "The person receiving the
tie can show his patriotism and the
person buying the tie will know that
they helped the Farmington Hills
Fire Department."
Elkus chose the Farmington Hills
Fire Department because he wanted
to help a local organization. He is
doing a brisk business with the ties
and notes how men are able to
express themselves with these patri-
otic ties. "Women are wearing pins
and now men are wearing ties. It's
more their comfort zone." El
