Workers Make A Difference
Volunteers from Temple Shir Shalom and the Jewish Community Council of
Metropolitain Detroit's Public Education Initiative joined for a Make a
Difference Day project at Harms Elementary School in southwest Detroit.

Parachaplaincy
The November monthly meeting of
Sarah's Tent, a new community pro-
gram, will take place 7-9 p.m.
Wednesday, Nov. 28, at a
Huntington Woods home. The
evening will feature Rabbi Daniel
Nevins of Adat Shalom Synagogue
discussing "Chanukah and the
December Dilemma" for the first
hour of the evening.
During the second hour, under
the guidance of a trained facilitator,
participants will discuss various
issues that one faces when living a
Jewish life and becoming part of the
Jewish community.
Sarah's Tent is open to the entire
community and is designed to wel-
come individuals interested in eas-
ing their way into a Jewish life, liv-
ing or the Jewish community. It is
free of charge.
This is a program of the Agency
for Jewish Education, Jewish Family
Service, Project NAOMI and the
Interfaith Connection and is sup-
ported by a grant from the Jewish
Women's Foundation of
Metropolitan Detroit.
The Jewish Community Chaplaincy
Program, which provides religious,
cultural and spiritual support to
frail Jewish older adults living in
care facilities, will offer the fourth
and final session of the parachap-
laincy training.
Those who are presently volun-
teering or who want to volunteer
with older adults in care facilities
are encouraged to attend.
The next session will be 7-9 p.m.
Tuesday, Nov. 27, at Fleischman
Residence in West Bloomfield. The
topic will be "The Impact of
Institutionalization." The speaker
will be Margot Parr, executive direc-
tor, Jewish Home and Aging
Services. The session is free of
charge. To register, call Shirley

Monday, Nov. 26.
A volunteer training session will
also be held at that same time for
the guardianship staff of the Jewish
Home and Aging Services. The ses-
sions are free. Refreshments will be
