co-editor of Shalom, a
bi-lingual outreach magazine. She has
directed a Talmud Torah for Persian
children for the past 16 years. She lec-
tures and counsels on love and marriage,
family purity and other women's issues.
The public is invited. Prior to the lec-
ture there will be a Chinese buffet din-
ner. The charge is $15 for adults, $8 for
children under bar/bat mitzvah age. For

Congregation B'nai Moshe will launch
two new adult Jewish learning programs
the first week in December, both keyed
to Shabbat.
Beginning 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1,
the shul will introduce "Shabbat
Odyssey" with Maariv and Havdalah,
featuring contemporary, participatory
musical settings for the liturgy, led by
Cantor Earl Berris on synthesizer and
acoustic guitar. Families are welcome.
Song sheets will be provided. There is
no charge, and no reservations are neces-
sary.
To help launch the series, Cantor
Berris will offer a preview of prayers,
music and the basic structure of the
service at a special "Monday Night
Odyssey" 6-6:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19,
followed at 7 p.m. by a study session; no
charge, no reservations required.
The second Shabbat-Chemed learning
initiative is geared to adults.
"Shabbat Shaboom" is a series of
three Wednesday night mentor-based
workshops at which shul clergy and con-
gregants will teach basic Shabbat skills
for home and synagogue. Sessions will
be held 7:30-9 p.m. Dec. 5, Jan. 9, and
Feb. 6. Each session will be self-con-
tained and can be attended independ-
ently. Advance reservations are encour-
aged but walk-ins are also welcome.
There is a materials fee: for members
of B'nai Moshe, $5 per session or $10
for the series; for others, $7 per session
or $15 for the series.
The "Shabbat Shaboom" series will
culminate in a congregational dinner to
welcome Shabbat on Friday night,
March 8. Details will be announced.

Hosts Bingo
Accommunity-wi ie family bingo and
silent auction will be held Sunday, Nov.
18 at Congregation B'nai Moshe, 6800
Drake Road, West Bloomfield.
The silent auction runs from 2 - 3:15
p.m. Items for auction include jewelry, a
Judith Leiber purse, family membership
to the Detroit Zoo, photography por-
trait sessions, four club seat tickets to
the Wednesday, Nov. 28 Pistons game
against the Charlotte Hornets, an auto-
graphed Lions team football and much
more.
Bingo begins at 2:30 p.m., with spe-
cial guest bingo caller Alan Muskovitz,
"Big Al" from WOM-104.3 Dick
Purtan Show. Every child is a guaran-
teed winner. The cost of the event is a
minimum $5 donation per reusable
bingo card.
Proceeds of the event will benefit
Congregation B'nai Moshe and A Small
Miracle. Last year, A Small Miracle dis-
tributed more than 225 Chanukah, gifts
to needy children in the Jewish commu-
nity. This Chanukah more than 600
children are expected to receive a gift
from A Small Miracle.

Honors Schneider
The Sarah and Irving Pitt Child
Development Center will honor Pitt
CDC Director Fredelle Schneider
for her 18 years of service at the
Jewish Community Center. The cel-
ebration will take place at a
Chanukah dinner 5:30-9 p.m.
Thursday, Dec. 6.
Past, present and future CDC stu-
dents are invited to the celebration.
Proceeds will go to tuition subsidies.
The event will include dinner, a gift
auction and magic show. Cost of the
