Shilichah Named

The Jewish Federation of Metropolitan
Detroit has named Shoshana Becker as a
community youth shlichah (emissary)
with the Israel and Overseas Department.
Becker will assist in developing pro-
grams involving Israel, both locally and
abroad. She will also be responsible for
overseeing the Partnership 2000 Detroit
Teen Committee, as well as acting as liai-
son between the committee and the
Central Galilee Youth Council.
Becker is a native of Jerusalem. She has
been both a participant and a leader for
the Israeli Scouts. During her two years
of service in the Israeli Army, she primari-

ly worked with computers. 'After the com-
pletion of her service, Becker participated in
the Summer Shlichim Program as a counselor and outdoors specialist for two
summers at Camp Ramah in Wisconsin.
For the following five years, Becker worked for the Jewish Agency in the
Department for Jewish Zionist Education. Her work at the Jewish Agency
involved coordinating, creating and implementing programs for first-time visi-
tors to Israel, as well as leadership training.
Recently, Becker returned to the Summer Shlichim Program as an assistant
director, where she was in charge of screening, orienting and preparing the par-
ticipants.
A Southfield resident, Becker is a graduate of Hebrew University in Jerusalem.

Veterans Remembered

On Sunday, Nov. 4, the Southfield-based Michigan Jewish War Veterans and
Ladies Auxiliary joined with the Windsor Jewish War Veterans of the Royal
Canadian Legion to commemorate Veterans Remembrance Day at Shaar
Hashomayim Synagogue. Shown at the ceremony are Harry Sigal, Balfour
Branch; Paul Oleynik, RCAF pilot; Milton Klein, past department commander;
Izzy Sigal, president of Balfour Branch; Elaine Zeron, president of Women's
Department of Michigan; Robert Feldman, commander of the Department of
Michigan.
