• Last week's B'nai B'rith Great
American Traditions Award Dinner at
Detroit's Renaissance. Center found

(the second tier, thank you). It's an
interesting way to observe a dinner.
The honoree, DTE Chairman
Anthony Earley Jr., must be a power-
house (no pun intended), judging by
the powerbrokers who turned out to
honor him.
Speaking on his behalf were Detroit
Mayor Dennis Archer, Detroit Pistons
Hall of Famer and Bing Group CEO
Dave Bing, Michigan Attorney
General Jennifer Granholm and B'nai
B'rith International president and for-
mer Detroiter Richard Heideman.
Palestinian airspace to assure Israel's
security. Arab League aircraft would
operate from Palestinian territory
and become a major threat to Israel.
The main Ben Gurion International
Airport would be under the constant
attack threat of Palestinian missiles.
The European Union would not
defend the security of Israel, and
would not protest a joint military
attack on Israel by the combined
forces of the Arab League. The
promises and statements of the
United States recognizing Israel's
right to exist and to have safe and
secure borders would not prevent
the Arab League forces from invad-
ing Israel. Nor would the United
States enter a conflict on the side of
Israel and against all the Arab armed
forces.
Another UN Voice
Once the Palestinian State is declared
to exist and given international recog-
nition, it would become a full-fledged
voting member of the United
Nations. Israel would have one more
anti-Israel voice spewing anti-Zionist
diatribe in the world forum. The
number of voting anti-Israel nations
would be increased. While Israel
would continue to be banned from
any future seat on the U.N. Security
Council, the new Palestinian state
would be granted regional member-
ship and allowed eligibility for a
Security Council seat.
The new Palestinian state would
become a nation member of the
Arab League. The league would sup-
port the new state financially and
militarily. The financial support
would allow the Palestinian state to
become industrialized and develop
armaments manufacturing capabili-
tY.
The league would also sign and
ratify mutual defense treaties with
the Palestinian state. As allies, the
league nations would agree to come
to the defense of the Palestinian
state should it ever be involved in
any, military conflict. Thus, Israel
would face the threat of military
action and war against all of the
armed forces and military capabili-
ties of all of the league nations.
These capabilities would include
nuclear, biological and chemical
weapons of mass destruction in pos-
session of, or being developed by,
Arab and Muslim nations.
While supposedly the new
Palestinian nation might agree, as
part of the basis for its establish-
ment, that it would exist as a de-
militarized state, the agreement
would not be kept and could not be
enforced. The Palestinian state, as all
independent states, would have the -
right to have protective armed
forces. Nor would the U.N. nations
halt the militarization any more
than the militarization of Germany
