Other monthly programs at the
JPM include Yiddish/Jewish video,
bingo, music appreciation, and Cafe
Europa, a program for Holocaust
survivors. Others are woodcarving,
lectures, current events discussions,
concerts, holiday celebrations and
field trips.
Sharon Goldenberg, senior pro-
gram coordinator at JPM, says
kosher lunches are served Monday
through Friday for adults ages 50
and older.

Numerous Activites

"Although the Center's Jewish Life
and Learning Department (JLL)
provides Jewish enrichment and
informal Jewish education programs
for people of all ages, many seniors
participate in the department's class-
es and activities," says Nitzana York.

Bloomfield, says, "Many seniors also
volunteer to assist with these special
events."
Helen and Manny Hauer of Oak
Park are good examples of steadfast
volunteers at the JPM. "It must be
10 years already they we've helped
to set up for the Wednesday after-
noon social," says Helen, who par-
ticipates in JCC activities several
times a week. "I come here to exer-
cise, to volunteer, to attend a class.
I've made some good friends and
I'm very busy with my activities."
Among the major events conduct-
ed by the JLL are the annual Jewish
Book Fair, the JCC Lenore Marwil
Jewish Film Festival, the winter
Seminars for Adult Jewish
Enrichment, and lectures and cul-
tural events. Classes at one or both
campuses that are frequently attend-
ed by seniors include: mah jongg,
