Bar/Bat Mitzvah
Steven David Betel will be called to the
Torah as a bar mitzvah on Saturday,
Nov. 10, at Temple
Kol Ami. He is the
son of Sharon Betel
and Aaron and
Tammy Betel. His
sisters are Melanie
Betel and Nicole and
Michelle Budaj. His
proud grandparents
are Loretta and
Seymour Ziegelman,
Brenda Betel and Carol and Joel
Charnow. Steven is also the grandson of
the late Sam Betel. His great-grandmoth-
er Sarah Siegel also celebrates on this joy-
ous occasion.
Steven attends East Middle School in
Farmington Hills, where he is an honor
student. His special interests include
competitive dancing, gymnastics, visual
arts and the violin. He also enjoys pho-
tography and for the past four summers
he has attended the Olin Sang Ruby
Union Institute Camp in Oconomowoc,
Wis. Steven's mitzvah projects included
assisting with a class of special education
students, helping at Detroit's Gleaners
Food Bank and with pet adoptions at
Pet Smart.
Marni Rose Falk will be called to the
Torah as a bat mitzvah on Sunday, Nov.
10, at Congregation Beth Shalom. She is
the daughter of Debbie Salinger and
Jonathan Falk, sister of Eli and grand-
daughter of Rabbi Randall and Edna
Falk, Mania Salinger and the late Martin
Salinger.
Marni is a seventh-
grade honor student
at Hillel Day School
of Metropolitan
Detroit in
Farmington Hills. She
enjoys arts and crafts,
swimming and the
computer. She especially loves attending
Habonim Camp Tavor. Among her
mitzvah projects, Marni tutored Hebrew
at Congregation Beth Shalom religious
school and helped prepare and serve
food to the homeless. Out of her con-
cern for other children, she has chosen to
donate stuffed animals from her party
centerpieces to the Jerusalem Post Toy
Fund.
Molly Alison Foltyn will become a bat
mitzvah on Saturday, Nov. 10, at Temple
Beth El. She is the daughter of Ann
Rosman and David
and Elyse Foltyn and
sister of Lindsay.

and Ella Foltyn of
Birmingham. She is
also the granddaugh-
ter of the late Mae
Rosman and Andrew Foltyn.
An honor student at Derby Middle
School in Birmingham, Molly plays vio-
lin with the school orchestra and is on
the tennis and volleyball teams. She also
enjoys piano, softball, reading and
spending summers at Camp Tamakwa in
Canada. Her favorite mitzvah project
was helping to reconstruct the bedroom
of an ill child for the Suite Dreams
Project in southwest Detroit.
Hannah Elise Gross will celebrate her
bat mitzvah when she is called to the
Torah on Saturday, Nov. 10, at
Congregation Shaarey Zedek B'nai
Israel. Sharing in this simcha are her par-
ents, Judy and Arnold Gross, brothers
Jonathan and Jesse and sister Lindsey.
