Cookies weren't all I ate ... Had a
Best's Kosher hot dog with all the
trimmings, too, and some popcorn ...
both given out at the event.
But the best taste of all was that
great one left in the knowledge that
the money went to provide free camp-
ing for children and young adults with
cancer ... at Camp Mak-A-Dream,
founded in 1992 by localites Harry
and Sylvia Granader ... They have a
special place in Montana, where the
campers can focus on living ... not
their limitations.
AS EXPECTED,- Beans and
Cornbread, on Northwestern Highway
in Southfield, was filled for its two-
seating fourth anniversary celebration,
"A Dinner from the South."
And just as anticipated, the five-
course dinner was in keeping with
Patrick Coleman's B & C reputation
of very good southern heritage and
soul food dining.
Grilled portabello mushroom with
Louisiana crab stuffing and roasted red
peppers, smoked turkey and sweet
potato bisque, salad with fried green
tomatoes and Vidalia onion vinai-
grette, Cornish game hen with sun-
dried cranberry and cornbread dress-
ing, and sweet potato cheesecake with
a caramel sauce.
Rhythm and blues and too much
progressive jazz riffing rounded out
the evening.
FOR YEARS, one of the top show-
men in this area, comedian-guitarist
Bob Posch, is appearing in the dinner
and show presentation by Gino's on
Cass Lake Road, west of Orchard Lake
Road.
With Bob is his close friend and
partner, Big John Cionca, who corn-
plements this fine comedy and musical
duo with so much talent.
Dinner and show is $24.95 ... Show
only, $9.
GIGI'S KORNER ... "If this is a
dog's life, I'll take it any day! Eating,
sleeping and playing is sure the life.
That's why I run after a ball and bring
it back to my new mom and dad.
Think I want to ruin a good thing? It
sure tires me out, but anything to
make them happy?
"They've even got a sign by the
door, 'Beware of the Dog', even
though I'm just a little 15-month-old
four-pound teacup poodle.
"Reminds me of the human notic-
ing a sign saying, 'Danger, Beware of
Dog!' on the glass door of a store.
Inside, he saw a harmless old hound
dog asleep on the floor beside the cash
register.
"The fellow asked the store owner,
