the Torah as a bar mitzvah at

Shaarey Zedek B'nai
Israel on Saturday,
Nov. 3. He is the son
of Nurit and Larry
Sallen and brother of
Erika and Leah.
Proud grandmother
is Molly Sallen. He is
also the grandson of
the late Theodore
Sallen and the late Ahuva and David
Anani.
David is an honor student at Hillel
Day School of Metropolitan Detroit in
Farmington Hills. He participates in a
variety of sports, including cross-coun-
try, basketball and baseball. He also
enjoys computersf David's most signifi-
cant mitzvah projects included volun-
teering at the Fleischman Residence in
West Bloomfield and visiting residents
of Jewish Association for Residential
Care homes.

Erika Sheer Sallen will be called to the
Torah as a bat mitzvah on Saturday,
Nov. 3 at
Congregation Shaarey
Zedek B'nai Israel.
She is the daughter of
Nurit and Larry
Sallen and sister of
David and Leah.
Proud grandmother is
Molly Sallen. She is
also the granddaugh-
ter of the late Theodore Sallen and the

their daughter Jolee Arden to
Steve Younes, son of Habib
and Joyce Younes of
Northbrook, Ill.
Jolee has degrees in film
production, drama and nail
cosmetology.
Steve has earned a bache-
lor's degree in marketing and
is employed as a staffing con-
sultant.
Jolee and Steve share a love
for animals, sports, music and
fitness.
They reside in Chicago. No
wedding date has been set.

Erika is an honor student at Hillel
Day School of Metropolitan Detroit in
Farmington Hills, where she participates
in soccer. She also enjoys dance, swim-
ming, gymnastics, listening to music and
being with friends and family. She found
it particularly meaningful to volunteer at
the Felischman Residence in West
Bloomfield. Erika also spent time visit-
ing residents of the Jewish Association
for Residential Care homes as part of her
mitzvah project.

Samantha Nicole Unger of West
Bloomfield will be called to the Torah
as a bat mitzvah on Saturday, Nov. 3,
at Temple Kol Ami.
Sammy is the daugh-
ter of Renee and Rick
Unger and sister of
Brian, Scott,
Michelle, Joseph and
Emily. Beaming
grandmothers are
Sybil Einstandig and
Shirlee Unger.
Samantha is also the granddaughter of
the late Newton Einstandig and the
late Joseph Unger.
Samantha is an eighth-grade honor
student at Orchard Lake Middle
School in West Bloomfield. She enjoys
spending summers at Tamarack Camps
and being with her friends. Her mitz-
vah projects include working with the
Friendship Circle for the past two
years, helping Temple Kol Ami house
the homeless, working at Yad Ezra in
Oak Park and being an aide to autistic
children at school.
