• Goldberg Thanksgiving Turkey
Distribution — Monday, Nov. 19,
noon-4:30 p.m., 1-2 hours, up to the
full day. Volunteers will pack
Thanksgiving food baskets individuals
and families in our community. Some
volunteers needed to help deliver bas-
kets. Yad Ezra Food Bank, Oak Park.
• Supportive Community — 1-3
hours, 2 times a year. Be on a roster
of volunteers to be called on to assist
homebound older adults with minor
indoor and outdoor household chores:
fix light bulbs, shovel snow, minor
plumbing and drive to the hospital for
outpatient surgery.
• Administrative Volunteers — 3-4
hours, 1 day per week Friendly indi-
viduals to answer phones, provide
resources and fill out important appli-
cation documents for transportation
and prescription departments.
• Friendly Visitors — 1 hour, 1 day
per week. Visit with, and/or_grocery
shop for a homebound older adult.
Visitors can be individuals, families, or
friends.
• Meals on Wheels — 2-3 hours, 1
morning per week Prepare and/or
deliver meals for homebound older
adults.
• JFS Mentors — 2-4 hours, 1 day per
week. Reach out to a boy or girl who
would benefit from a special friendship
with a caring adult. Mentors offer
companionship and support by provid-
ing the young person with one-on-one
attention and guidance on a weekly
basis.
