Jewish Cooking for Dummies

Award-winning cookbook author Faye
Levy has written a fabulous cooking
guide for even novices to learn the joys
of Jewish cooking. Jewish Cooking for
Dummies takes the mystery out of Jewish
cooking, covering topics such as the Ten Commandments of
Jewish Cooking, Jewish holidays, keeping kosher, types and
styles of Jewish cuisine and recipes and techniques for all
types of foods and meals. Faye Levy is the award-winning
author of 1,000 Jewish Recipes, Faye Levy's International
Jewish Cookbook and The Low-Fat Jewish Cookbook. Her
appearance will include a cooking demonstration.

S. Jay Olshansky, Ph.D. and his co-author,
Bruce A. Carnes, leading research scien-
tists in the field of aging, separate fact
from fiction in this important new book on
the aging process. Aimed at those who
are looking for ways to boost their longevity, the book deals
with both the political and philosophical issues that often
come hand in hand with the entire aging process. Dr.
Olshansky is a professor in the School of Public Health at the
University of Illinois at Chicago and a research associate at the
Center on Aging at the University of Chicago. Co-sponsored

Dr. Maisel's first novel, Bedside Manners, is
a medical thriller full of twists and turns. Dr.

Detroit Jewish News' restaurant colum-
nist!) has just graduated from medical school in Michigan and
has accepted a residency at a major hospital in Chicago.
Once there, he begins to uncover a plot that intends to rewrite
the history of the Holocaust. Dr. Maisel is a professor of medi-

The Oasis

This is the true story of Blanka and Mirek
Friedman, told in intimate detail by their
son-in-law, author Petru Popescu. Blanka
and Mirek met and fell in love as both were
prisoners at the Nazi concentration camp
Dachau in 1944. Mirek, a political prisoner and freedom fighter
who saves Blanka's life, eventually escapes with a promise to find
her. The Oasis is the story of how their love remained faithful and
hopeful through the most unimaginable suffering and tragedy.
Mr. Popescu also is the author of The Return and Almost Adam.
