Palm restaurant will
open in Troy, on Crooks Road north
of Big Beaver near the Northfield
Hilton Hotel.
When it originally opened 75 years
ago, the Palm was a little steak house
on 2nd Avenue in New York City ...
Today, it is the oldest family-owned
white tablecloth restaurant to expand
across the United States.
The Palm has a great reputation as
an Italian steak house ... Its 36-ounce
New York strip for two is a big high-
light ... And the huge lobsters are
standouts.
A long-standing feature of the Palm
restaurants are the walls at each loca-
tion (there are about 20 restaurants) ...
adorned with caricatures of local nota-
bles and celebrities.
Opening of the Palm restaurant in -
Troy is slated around the first or sec-
ond week of December.
AGAIN, ANDIAMO Italia on 14
Mile, between Mound and Van Dyke,
takes the lead in telling its New Year's
Eve package ... and the taking of reser-
vations in October.
Its Celebrity Showroom package will
feature the Simone Vitale eight-piece
band plus three vocalists doing a vari-
ety of tunes for dancing and entertain-
ment ... A six-course, gourmet-style
dinner, champagne toast, etc., is
priced at $95 per person.
Mickey Rooney and his wife, Jan
Chamberlin-Rooney, have been signed
for Jan. 17 and 18 ... She is wife number
nine, including Ava Gardner, for the 81-
year-old Mickey Rooney ... still kicking
his heels high in comedy, song and dance.
The Temptations Review, featuring
Dennis Edwards, a great rhythm and
blues voice who joined the Temptations
in 1968 as successor to lead singer
David Ruffin, comes Feb. 22 and 23.
FORMER UPTOWN Steak House
