After graduating from the Yeshiva University and the City College of New York, he entered the United States Army during World War II, serving 4 1/2 years domestically and abroad. Stationed in Brazil during the war, he orchestrated and led a 400-person Passover seder. Upon his return to the Detroit area, he became a member and served on the board of Congregation Beth Achim and later Beth Ahm. He spent the last 20 years his life studying Torah and taking weekly classes at the Kollel. He volunteered for many years in the Birmingham schools as well as at Yad Ezra and many other organ- izations.
