0, I'm not going into a nostalgic rant about the
"Good Old Days." Nor am I about to expound on
how hard I had it when I was a child (though I am
convinced that I did walk to and from school uphill
both ways in snow — summer and winter).
It is important to remember the people, places and events
that make up our lives. This is what helps us to enjoy life, to
share it with others, to keep connections alive and to pass on
valuable, entertaining stories to our
children and grandchildren.
All of this was brought to mind
recently by two events. One was mov-
ing to a new house and having the
opportunity to look through some old
photograph albums before packing
them away. We also were able to select
some meaningful pictures for display

We have learned that one of our
grandchildren's favorite pastimes is to
look through old photo albums and see, not only their parents
as children, but Bubbie and Poppa as kids.
The second event that brought memories to mind was a
recent visit to a family sitting
shivah. The wonderful tales
that they were able to share
about their mother, the sto-
ries of "adventures" when
they were kids and all the
related memories that these
conjured up made for a spirit-
ed evening. It also helped us
to fulfill the mitzvah of
remembering the deceased
and keeping that person with
us.

the fond events captured in those photos. After all, isn't that
why the pictures were taken to begin with? ❑
