Judith Sarah Margolin will be
called to the Torah as a bat mitzvah
on Saturday, Oct.
13, at
Congregation
Shaarey Zedek. She
is the daughter of
Beth and Steve
Margolin, sister of
Amy and Rachel
and the grand-
daughter of Arlene
and David Margolin and Barbara
Michel. She is also the granddaugh-
ter of the late Alvin Eber and
Bernhard Michel.
Judy is a seventh-grade honor
student at Hillel Day School of
Metropolitan Detroit in Farmington
Hills. She enjoys dance, water and
snow skiing and piano. She visits
residents at Heritage Retirement
Community in Southfield and
Fleischman Residence in West
Bloomfield, and looks forward to
participating in the Jewish
Association for Residential Care
program with her seventh-grade
class. She also worked this past sum-
mer with preschool children at the
Shaarey Zedek day camp.

Max Isaac Neistein will be called to
the Torah as a bar mitzvah at Temple
Kol Ami on Saturday, Oct. 13. He is
the son of Howard
and Amy Neistein
and will be joined by
his brothers Gabe
dr-
and Zachary. Excited
grandparents are
Irving and Lenore
Neistein of Van
Nuys, Calif, and
Annette Dover of
Lauderhill, Fla.
Max attends Berkshire Middle
School in Birmingham, where he is
an honor student and active in stu-
dent government. He enjoys all sports
and was honored to play as an all-star
in the Franklia Baseball League.
Max's mitzvah project was organiz-
ing a school supply drive on behalf of
the 300 students at Oak Park's

Lessenger Elementary School. He
wrote for and received a grant from
American Express for backpacks for
each student in the school.

Zachary Ashker Ruden will celebrate
his bar mitzvah on Saturday, Oct. 13,
at Temple Israel. He
is the son of Janis
and Dr. Andrew
Ruden and brother
of Sarey, Noah and
Olivia. Sharing in the
simcha are excited
grandparents Marion
and Sid Ashker and
Betty and Milt
Ruden.
A student at West Bloomfield's
Abbott Middle School, Zachary plays
travel ice hockey, is a devoted hockey
fan, and likes skiing, tubing, in-line
skating, swimming and football. He
found it particularly meaningful to vol-
unteer at Yad Ezra in Oak Park as part
of his mitzvah projects.

Brandon Justin Shallop will become a
bar mitzvah on Saturday, Oct. 13, at
Temple Israel. He is
the son of Janie
Hamburger and
Gary Shallop and
brother of Devin.
Grandparents Sylvia
and Stuart
Hamburger are
proud to share in the
simcha.
Attending Walnut Creek Middle
School in Walled Lake, where he is an
honor student, Brandon enjoys fish-
ing and the outdoors, sports, comput-
ers and building models. His most
significant mitzvah project was volun-
teering at a nursing home; he also
assisted in Temple Israel's nursery.

Joshua Eric Siegel became a bar
mitzvah on Saturday, Oct. 6, at
Temple Kol Ami.
He is the son of
David and Sharon
Siegel, brother of
Benjamin and
grandson of Sidney
and Naomi Siegel
and Jack and Joyce
Cohen.
Joshua is in the
seventh grade at
Cranbrook-Kingswood Middle
