Bar/Bat Mitzvah

Marissa Rachel Ash will be called to
the Torah for her bat mitzvah on
Friday, Oct. 12, at
Temple Beth El.
She is the daughter
of Diane and
Norman Ash. Her
parents, brother
Justin and grand-
parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Jerome M.
Ash and Mr. and
Mrs. Alan Soskin, are all very proud
of her.
Marissa is a seventh-grade honor
student at Cranbrook-Kingswood
Middle School in Bloomfield Hills,
where she plays the flute in advanced
band and participates on the diving
team. Her favorite sport is gymnas-
tics, which she has participated in
since she was 3 and competed in
since she was 6. She also participates
in tennis, downhill skiing and water
skiing. Marissa has worked on volun-
teer projects, including working at
Yad Ezra in Oak Park, collecting food
for Detroit-based Gleaners
Community Food Bank, read-a-thons
for Recording for the Blind and
Dyslexic and for the March of
Dimes. She was recently selected by
her school to participate in the 21st
Century Leaders Program sponsored
by the Community House in
Birmingham.

Evan Berman will celebrate his bar
- mitzvah at Adat Shalom Synagogue
on Saturday, Oct. 13. He is the son
of Susie and David Berman.

School in Farmington Hills, Evan
