Saks Fifth Avenue donates a portion o sales to fight cancer.

urchase with a purpose is the motto of
Saks Fifth Avenue during a four-day
charity-shopping weekend. From Oct.
18-21, Saks Fifth Avenue at the
Somerset Collection will donate 2 percent of all
sales to benefit the Josephine Ford Cancer Center,
affiliated with the Henry Ford Health System.
A benefactor reception was held at Mercedes
Benz of Bloomfield on Oct. 3, to kick off the
national fundraising campaign Fashion Targets
Breast Cancer. A beauty trend breakfast will be
held 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at Saks.

Jocelyn Tink, Dana Cooper and Jake Cooper attended the kick-off
event for the Josephine Ford Cancer Center. Tink and Cooper are
affiliated with Organon Pharmaceuticals.

Dogs Of Destiny

The 13th annual Leader Dogs for the Blind
Gala, held last month at the Ritz-Carlton,
attracted more than 400 patrons. Karen
Davidson and Carol Nederlander were general
chairmen, while Wanda Giancamilli, Barbara
Grossman and Kathy Yaffe were gala chairmen.
Patrons were entertained by the "Teen Angels"
and introduced to some future leader dogs. All
proceeds from the event raised funds for the
Rochester-based, non-profit dog guide school.

Barbara Grossman and Wanda Giancamilli at the Leader Dogs

Lights, Camera, Auction

Variety, The Children's Charity presents "Lights,
Camera, Auction," 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, at
the Showcase Cinemas of Pontiac 1-5 in
Bloomfield Township. The evening includes a
strolling supper, cocktails, silent auction and a
sneak preview of ,a major Hollywood feature film.
One goal of this year's silent auction is to raise
funds for a Sunshine Coach to service hospitals
and other facilities for children with special needs.
