A Gaggle
Of Giggles

On Marcy Feldman's car is a bumper
sticker advocating research and fund-
ing to cure scleroderma, a chronic
autoimmune disease of the connective
tissue.
Among the 300,000 Americans with
scleroderma is her sister Joan Provizer,
of Farmington Hills, past president of
the Scleroderma Foundation,
Michigan Chapter and current profes-
sional development director.
"It can thicken the skin so that a
person cannot use their hands [and it]
can affect the muscles, joints and
blood vessels," Feldman, of
Huntington Woods, says of the disease
whose symptoms can be life-threaten-
ing.
The sisters are involved in an
upcoming Scleroderma Foundation
fundraiser.
A light supper and silent auction
will be held 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct.
11 at Mark Ridley's Comedy Castle,
269 E. Fourth Street, Royal Oak.
Proceeds go to education, research and
emotional support for patients and
their families.
For tickets, call the Scleroderma
Foundation office at (248) 349-2899.
