NBC correspondent Andrea Mitchell
will not be available to speak at the
Greater Detroit Chapter of Hadassah
luncheon Tuesday, Oct. 16.
Mort Crim,
broadcaster, writer
and journalist,
will speak follow-
ing the luncheon
at Congregation
Shaarey Zedek.
An invitations-
only pre-glow will
begin at 11 a.m.
followed by lunch
at noon and the
Mort Crim
speaker at 1 p.m.
Boutiques will be
open before and
after the event, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. There
is a charge to attend. For information,

Crim created and hosts a radio
series, "Second Thoughts," airing on
600 stations worldwide. He was the
news anchor and senior editor at
WDIV-TV (NBC) Detroit, 1978-97.

Yad Ezra, the only kosher food pantry
in Michigan, will hold its annual
fund-raising dinner at Congregation
Shaarey Zedek on Monday, Oct. 29.
Bluma and Robert Schechter, Yad
Ezra supporters and community
activists, are this year's honorees.
Dinner chairs are Debbie Balkin and
Ellie Glen.
Mrs. Schechter has worked on the
dinner program journal for the last
four years. Mr. Schechter has helped
raise endowment funds and serves as a
member of Yad Ezra's board of direc-
tors. They also have worked in the
warehouse and delivered food to
clients lacking transportation.

tions) to organizations such as Yad Ezra that provide food or shelter to the indigent. The fair market value of the dinner for tax
