New York/JTA — The real estate
developer who held the lease on the
World Trade Center praised the
Jewish communal "family" for corn-
ing together in the days following
the Sept. 11 terror attacks.
Larry Silverstein, a major philan-
thropist and past chairman of UJA-
Federation of Greater New York,
speaking at a federation campaign
luncheon, praised local Jewish agen-
cies like the Jewish Board of Family
and Children's Services, which pro-
vided counseling to his employees in
the wake of the tragedy. Several
Silverstein Properties employees are
still listed as missing.

Washington/JTA — The National
Cathedral in Washington is sched-
uled to dedicate a window that
includes a stone from archeological
excavations around the Kotel
(Western Wall) in Jerusalem.
The window, part of a series
depicting scenes from the Old
Testament, expresses "hope of all
faith traditions for peace in the Holy
City and in the world."

Holocaust Uprising

New York/JTA — A film about what
is believed to be the only organized
uprising ever attempted by the pris-
oners at Auschwitz-Birkenau is
scheduled for release soon.
The Grey Zone, tells the story of
the Oct. 7, 1944, uprising by son-
derkornmandos, Jews who were forced
to assist in the extermination of their
fellow prisoners. The sonderkom-
mandos managed to blow up one of
the four crematoria, but the SS
quelled the attack, and hundreds of
Jews involved were executed.
