"That chapel" was the Sistine, and it rook Michelangelo a

total of nearly Four years to paint its ceiling. Along the way,
he created dozens of preliminary sketches, including several

now on display at the Toledo Museum of Art during

Michelangelo: Drawings and Other Treasures from the Casa
Buonarroti, Florence. Small, intimate, and very personal, this

exhibition features forty-seven objects from Michelangelo's
family home, including twenty-one drawings from the master's
hand—among them nine never before exhibited in the United
