the dinner for them to serve ... and it
was wonderful ... Sauteed chicken
with artichokes and sweet red pepper
sauce on the same plate with an excel-
lent Chilean sea bass.
My son Scott was to have been best
man but was stranded in Sweden and
then Paris and couldn't get back in
time ... He and Ken have been best of
friends about 25 years ... since they
were both 15 years old and took my
week-old car for a short joy ride while
I was out of town ... The car backed
into a fire hydrant ... by itself, natural-
ly ... and smashed its rear end but
good.
Both Scott and Ken are now fine,
upstanding businessnien and husbands
... who take good care of their autos
and will no doubt make certain their
children don't find any car keys lying
around.
ONLY RESTAURANT I know of
that serves five other courses at no
extra charge ... with all lunch and din-
ner entrees on a regular basis ... is Ann
Sayles Dining roomon 13 Mile Road,
east of Greenfield, in Royal Oak...
Appetizer or soup, potato, vegetable,
dessert and beverage ... And the low
prices are also quite amazing.
CONGRATS ... Leah Marks, for-
mer Detroiter now living in Las Vegas
... on her birthday.
FORMER BAGEL DELI on the
corner of Farmington Road and Maple
in West Bloomfield will become a car-
ryout gourmet Jewish deli around
November.
OLDIE BUT GOODIE ... from
Jerry Light ... Four young novice nuns
were about to take their vows. Dressed
in their white gowns, they came into
the chapel with the mother superior,
and were about to undergo the cere-
mony to marry them to Jesus, making
them "brides of Christ."
Just as the ceremony was about to
begin, four chasidic Jews with
yarmulkes, long side curls and long
beards came in and sat in the front
row.
The mother superior said to them,
"I am honored that you would want
to share this experience with us, but
do you mind if I ask why you came?"
"We're from the groom's side." O
