Hills, died Sept. 20. He was an office
furniture sales representative. He was
also an Army sergeant during World
War II, a Jewish War Veteran, member
of the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan
Detroit, member of Laurelton, N.Y.,
JCC and B'nai B'rith.
Mr. Alperin is survived by his wife of
57 years, Minna Alperin; son and
daughter-in-law, Dr. Neil and Audrey
Alperin of Farmington Hills; grandchil-
dren, Risa, Mark and Jessie Alperin.
Interment at B'nai Moshe Cemetery

ROBERT R. BEAN, 85, of Los
Angeles, died Sept. 17.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley,
children, Stuart, Barbara; grandchildren,
Meghan, Erin, Ryan; brother Ed Bean
of Michigan; surrogate father to devoted
nieces, Bonnie Schumann and Nanci
Hiller. He was the father of the late
Richard Bean.
Interment at Mount Sinai Memorial
Park in Los Angeles. Contributions may

ANN E. BERNSTEIN, 99, of Oak
Park, died Sept. 19.
She is survived by her son and daugh-
ter-in-law, Melvin and Diane Bernstein
of Huntington Woods; daughter and
son-in-law, Dolores "Dolly" Mandell of
West Bloomfield; sister-in-law, Rachel
Berkowitz of Ramat Gan, Israel; grand-
children, Daniel Bernstein, Robert and
Stacey Small Bernstein, Leonard and
Carol Bale, Charles and Hillary Bale,
Gary and Linda Bale; great-grandchil-
dren, Andrew Bale, Kali Bale, Shawn
Bale, Stewart Bale, Alexander Bale,
Sydney Bale. She was the beloved wife of
the late Joseph Bernstein.

AARON BESER, 90, of Southfield,
died Sept. 19. He was an attorney and
co-founder and owner of the Apartment
Group and a member of Temple Israel.

Susan and David Smith of San
Francisco; grandchildren, Rachel Beser

RUTH S. BIELEFELD, 103, of
Sterling Heights, died Sept. 23. She was
a department store sales consultant.
Ms. Bielefeld is survived by her
cousins, Joseph L. Dorn, Regina and
Stanley Fayne, Sanford Maymon and
Judith and Brian Bell.

DONALD CANVASSER, 82, of
Bloomfield Hills, died Sept. 22. He was
a co-partner with his brothers of
Canvasser Brothers, a real estate manage-
ment firm, a member of Temple Beth El
and its brotherhood,
Moslem Shrine, B'nai
B'rith and Men's ORT.
He was also a board
member of the Henry
Ford Hospital Heart
and Vascular Institute.
Mr. Canvasser is sur-
vived by his wife of 60

BERT COHEN, 76, of Clearwater,
Fla., formerly of Southfield, died Sept.
16. He was part-owner of Al Ross
