YOUR CHILD'S ROCKET TO THE STARS What children dream, we help them achieve. Drs. Ken and Tamy Chelst Young Israel Opens Library Drs. Tamy and Kenneth Chelst recently donated bookcases in the sanctuary at the Young Israel of Southfield for a new Judaic library. The books will focus on the roles of women in Judaic law and practice and on biblical commentaries of particular interest to female membership. Although there have been reference works and texts available on the men's side of the mechitzah (barrier separat- ing men and women in an Orthodox synagogue), female members have not had the opportunity to pick up a book at leisure on their side of the shul. The new library will afford them a selection of volumes of interest. Congregants who wish to donate texts should contact Rabbi Elimelech Goldberg, the Chelsts or former board member Janice Goldfein. The Chelsts chose to donate this library in honor of the bar mitzvah of their youngest son Avishai and the recent engagement of their middle son Azriel to Dina Hadassah Berezin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Berezin of Springfield, Mass. 100% of graduates accepted at four-year colleges and universities. 27 National Merit Semifinalists in class of 2001, highest percentage of any'school in Michigan Average SAT score, Class of 2001: 1302 Detroit Country Day School Open House Sunday, October 21, from I —4 pm Pre-K through Grade 12 (658 Math, 644 Verbal) sir Test of Engineering Aptitude, Math and Science I st in state two years in a row Michigan Mathematics Prize Competition 7 students in top 100,5 in top 50 National French Contest, 43 awards National German Contest, 10 awards National Latin Exam, 17 awards National Spanish Exam, 16 awards including first in nation Scholastic Arts Awards, 17 Silver Keys, 8 Top awards for student journalism from national and state interscholastic press associates Quiz Bowl Six consecutive state championships Come explore our school community and discover the supportive learning environment that prepares children through a dynamic program of academics, athletics, arts and activities.
