Teens STARTING OVER BLOOMFIELD WEST APARTMENTS Wishes Everyone a Happy & Healthy New Year from page 179 away, studying feverishly day and night for my diploma four years later. It will be my first time away from my family. Due to a high tuition bill, I will not have the luxury of returning home. Rosh Hashanah's annual family gathering will have to take place with my new family mem- bers at a new synagogue. It will be hard, but worthwhile. New experiences are what col- lege is all about and sharing the holidays in a slightly different way may open my eyes to some traditions and activities I would have otherwise never considered. Rosh Hashanah has always meant a chance to begin again. This year, I will have more than one new beginning. At a small school in New York, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, I will be embarking on one of the most exciting times of my life. I will be meeting new people and learning new lessons. This Rosh Hashanah is a chance to put my past aside and start over. I can show a side of myself that has been seen by a relative few — my true self. I will be with people I've never met in a place I have seen but once, and in a tech- nological world that I have never experienced. New doors will open and I will make a point to walk through them. Yes. I will miss my family. This will be hard and the memories I have shared with them will burn deep in my mind. Yet I see the smiles on their faces. I know how pleased they are that I have been given such a wonderful opportu- nity. I know that this is what they would want me to do — experi- ence another family's tradition, laugh with kids my own age and experience life before settling down with a job. A message to my family: Don't worry; I'm ready. ❑ Erin Kaufman, 18, daughter of Jack and Julie Kaufman of Farmington Hills, lives in Troy, N. Y, and will be a freshman at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. as. 4 Happy New Year From Our Staff and Residents BABCOCK ASSOCIATES 248/131-5511 Marvin and Betty Danto Family Health Care Center 6800 West Maple Road On The JCC Campus West Bloomfield 248.788.5300 L_J asier FEDIeRNATION'S TRIBUTE PROGRAM • • • • • • • • No Gift Touches More Lives GERIATRIC CASE MANAGEMENT PRIMARY PHYSICIAN SERVICES SKILLED NURSING & THERAPIES HOSPICE CARE WOUND CARE SPECIALISTS FOOT CARE SPECIALISTS MEDICAL EQUIPMENT & SUPPLIES PERSONAL TRANSPORTATION • • • • • • • • (248) 203-1498 tributes@jfmd.org or www.thisisfederation.org HOMEMAKER SERVICES IN-HOME PHARMACY SERVICES SENIOR HOUSING OPTIONS ELDER LAW SPECIALISTS FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT HOME REPAIR, MAINTENANCE MOVING & PACKING ACCESSIBILITY MODIFICATIONS Professional Parent Care of Michigan 888-622-7700 www.professionalparentcare.com HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL OUR FRIENDS from ROCHELLE IMBER AND ALL THE LADIES OF KNIT, KNIT, KNIT and ACCENTS IN NEEDLEPOINT of Firlrl ARBOR IS-Pleased to Announce the Addition of Mark Gilbert to Its Professional Staff.
