WE'D LIKE TO ANNOUNCE THAT

THE YEAR 5762

WILL BE ARRIVING ON SCHEDULE.

You will need one beside each place.
Fill every basket with items appro-
priate for what the guest might hope
for in the coming year. For example,
in a basket at the place of your
daughter who is going off to college,
you could include a tiny toy car
because she's trying to find a good
one at a reasonable price.
You might also put heart stickers,
so she'll never forget how much you
love her, no matter how far she goes;
a bandage, because she hopes one day
to go to medical school; a candy bar,
with hopes that she'll never be out of
her favorite treat; and a nice lipstick,
because even though you know she's
beautiful without cosmetics, she
insists she can't live without them.
You'll find plenty of good items at
craft and discount shops to place in
baskets, and children will enjoy
drawing treasures to include.

SEE YOU IN ISRAEL.

SHANA TOVA

AND PEACE FOR THE NEW YEAR.

• Put Your Best Foot Forward: You

want to get off to a great start this
new year, so make your children's
first steps beautiful ones. Buy plain
white socks and allow children to
decorate and wear them for the holi-
day. They can use indelible markers,
iron-on patches, or, if they are older,
sew on lace.

• Silly Wishes: Have children make
up silly wishes for family, then write
these on cards — perhaps even fish-
head shaped ones — to be fished out
of a large bowl during the Rosh
Hashanah meal. The sillier the bet-
ter. For example: "May worms never
find their way into your sandals this
year," or, "May you never get any
holes in your socks all year long,"
or "May you never have to hear
any song by Barry Ivianilol,v for the
rest of your life."

• Remember When: Rosh Hashanah
is all about tradition; share yours
with your children. Write down
do not be tempted just to tell to
children of any age — your memo-
ries of Rosh Hashanah as a child.
Be specific. The more details the
better. And if you can, ask your
parents or other family members to
do the same, and include recipes
and photos whenever possible.
After the holiday, have your chil-
dren write down what they remem-
bered most about this Rosh
Hashanah, and keep adding year
after year after year.
