voice from television's earliest day s
boomed across the 700-seat
Seligman Performing Arcs Center at
Detroit Country Day School on Sept. 5.
Carl Reiner — actor, comedian,

comedy writer and first-class raconteur
— appeared at a benefit for the
Detroit Friends of Bar-Ilan University.
About 600 tickets were sold, and
enough ads to fill a hefty playbill.
Event co-chairpersons were Rochelle
Lieberman and Eli Scherr; Jeff Sakwa
was playbill chair; and Karen Alpiner
and Debbie Muskovitz handled event
arrangements.
"The people I've talked to said they
had a wonderful time," said Barbara
Horowitz, outgoing president of the
Detroit Friends.
"Many people," she said, "used the
word mentsh" in reference to Reiner. ❑
