hen my husband and I
married, he used a five-
inch Kiddush cup to
make Kiddush.
Over the next decade, we were
blessed with three children and we
passed the cup from one to another.
Then our children in their youth
congregations received four-inch
Kiddush cups as awards, and my hus-
band started pouring a little wine in
their cups for their use.
They know that when they went to
overnight camp that their father was
pouring a drop in each of their cups
to celebrate their presence in spirit.
Next, I bought myself a 4 1/2-inch
cup. As the years passed, we gained a
dear son-in-law and two dear daugh-

ters-in-law, and we added four-inch
Kiddush cups for them.
During the years following, we
gained six precious grandchildren and
we bought 1 1 /2-inch jiggers for them.
Two years ago, our oldest grand-
daughter was married as we added a
jigger for our new grandson. This is
the situation in the picture.
On June 20th of this year, we
gained our first great-grandchild, a
dear little boy, and we joyfully added
a jigger for him. We now have a beau-
tiful "family generations" Kiddush
tray, representing four generations.
Our family is now spread from
Bloomfield Hills to Boston to Los
Angeles to Jerusalem, Israel. Each
Sabbath eve, my husband puts a drop
of wine in every Kiddush cup, uniting
our family in the beautiful ritual of
Shabbat Kiddush.
