"We're all united in
our grief, outrage and
resolve to see democ-
racy and freedom tri-
umph over hatred
and terror."
— Rabbi Daniel Nevins

Adat Shalom Synagogue

"We must pull
together as one peo-
ple ro grieve for those
we have lost, to care
for their loved ones
and for the injured
and their families ...
to protect our nation
and our way of life.
America must lead the civilized
world in a relentless campaign to
root out and defeat terrorists and
terrorist states."
— U.S. Sen. Carl Levin, D-Mich.

'As we approach the
Days of Awe, we
gather in shock and
horror at the events
of this week. In the
coming week, we
begin the 10 days of
introspection. During
these Days of Awe,
we pray for guidance so that we may
respond to this tragedy from within
the values of Our Jewish tradition.
We pray for refitah shlemah, a
complete healing of body and spirit
for the survivors and their families.
"We pray that the souls of those
who perished be bound up in the
bonds of eternal life and that their
memories be for a blessing. May
God grant us the peace we desire,
and the strength we'll need, to get
through this terrible ordeal."

— Larry Ginsberg
president, Congregation .ffnai Moshe

"We abhor the appar-
ent terrorism against
America, whoever is
responsible. Our
prayers go out to the
victims of these sense-
less acts and their fa ► -
ilies. All of us are
deeply affected by
what is happening today across this
country and we must turn to each
other for support.
The Detroit Jewish community
stands ready to offer any assistance
and resources it can to meet the
emergency needs of those whose
lives and families have been affected.
As the Jewish New Year begins next
week, our prayers will go out to the
victims and their families and the
hope for such events never to hap-
pen again."

— Robert Aronson, chief executive
officer, Jewish Federation of
Metropolitan Detroit

"Our prayers go out to
the victims of this hor-
rific series of events and
to their families. We
have been devastated
by this unimaginable
tragedy, and we need to
reach out to the victims
and their families who
are suffering.
"All Americans — Christians,
Muslims and Jews — condemn this
vicious act of cowardice.
"This is a time for Americans to
pull together and support each
other. These acts seek to divide us
— we must not allow that to hap-
pen. We in the Congress stand with
the president in this moment of
national tragedy"
— US. Rep. David Bonior,
