A golf classic and gala raise funds for the Karmanos Institute.

artners, a volunteer group
dedicated to fighting can-
cer, will host a golf classic
Tuesday, Sept. 4, at
Indianwood Golf and Country Club
in Lake Orion and a black-tie gala
ball 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, at
the Ritz-Carlton in Dearborn. Funds
raised by the Partners benefit the
Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer
Institute.
The gala event, "Partners at the
Ritz," will honor Eunice and Milton
Ring. The Rings are longtime
Karmanos supporters and Eunice was

instrumental in forming the Partners
Group. She also monitors the
Suzanne Korman Morton Cancer
Research Fund in honor of her sister
who lost her battle with cancer.
"Partners at the Ritz" also honors
Isaac Powell, M.D. for his dedication
and the advances he has made in the
treatment of prostate cancer.
The event includes a silent auction,
dinner and dancing. Master of cere-
monies will be Al Muskovitz a.k.a.
Big Al Muskavito of WOMC-FM's
"Purtan's People." Karen Weiss and
Sharon Wood head the leadership
committee for both events.

The 32nd Fash Bash, held Aug. 10 at the Fox Theatre,
raised more than $400,000 for the Detroit Institute of
Arts.
The glamour benefit attracted many of Detroit's stylish
partygoers. Sharon Eisenshtadt, Marshall Field's personal

benefit and previewed many of the fall looks on WXYZ-
TV television prior to the event.
According to Eisenshtadt, a tweed jacket, boots and a
one-shoulder dress are must-haves for this season. Some
of the well-dressed crowd at the Fash Bash included
Pamela Applebaum Wyett, Karen and Seth Gould,
Doug and Sydell Schubot, Hank and Heidi Wineman.

The Detroit Symphony Orchestra
hosts "A Gala Opening for the 2001-
2002 Season," 5:30 p.m. Friday, Sept.
14, at the gala tent at Orchestra
Place. The event includes a cocktail
reception, dinner and a concert at
Orchestra Hall. Bernadette Peters
will perform with the DSO. The
evening concludes with dessert and

dancing to the Mel Ball Orchestra
under the gala tent. Mr. and Mrs.
Max Fisher and Mr. and Mrs.
William Davidson are among the
honorary chairs. Rosette Ajluni,
Julie Fisher Cummings, Barbara
Diles and Patricia Young are the
