July 20
Lisa (Ring) Taylor and Kevin Taylor of
West Bloomfield are ecstatic to
announce the birth of their son, Arye
Raphael (Ari). Sharing in their nachos
are proud grandparents Philip Taylor
of West Bloomfield and Dorothy and
Fred Ring of Livonia. Older brother
Jacob Zachary, 2 1 /2, also wishes to
welcome his baby brother, who was
named in loving memory of his pater-
nal grandmother Beverly (Rachel)

Susie (Salomon) and Eddie Kresch of
Oak Park welcome with love the birth
of their daughter, Atara Malka Rena
(Crowned Queen of Joy), named in
loving memory of her mother's great-
grandma Molly (Malka) Miller. Big
brothers and sister Max,5; Talya, 4;
and David, 2, are enjoying smothering
their new sister with hugs and kisses.

Thrilled parents Miriam and Yaacov
Aaron Amzalak announce the birth of

Bar/Bat Mitzvah

Gabriel David Appel of Huntington
Woods, son of Jeffrey Appel and
Michelle Friedman

brate his bar mitz-
vah on Monday,
Sept. 3, at
Congregation Beth
Shalom. Gabe is the
brother of Andrew
and Sam. Proud
grandparents are
Dr. and Mrs. Max Appel and Judge
and Mrs. Ben Friedman. Also cele-
brating is Gabe's great-grandmother
Edith Guyer.
Gabe is an honor student at
Hillel Day School of Metropolitan
Detroit in Farmington Hills, where
he has been a member of the basket-
ball and tennis teams. He has done

volunteer work at the Jewish
Association for Residential Care and
at Yad Ezra, the kosher food pantry
in Oak Park.

Michael Howard Berkowitz will cel-
ebrate his bar mitzvah at Temple
Israel during Havdalah services on
Saturday, Sept. 1.
He is the son of
Brenda and Marty
Berkowitz and the
grandchild of Ethel
and Al Feldstein.
He is also the
grandchild of the
late Joanne and
Louis Gelman and
the late Howard Berkowitz.
Attending Banks Middle School
in Walled Lake, where he is an
honor student, Michael likes soccer,
hockey, running track, reading, trav-
el and computers in addition to
singing in Temple Israel's junior
choir. He particularly appreciated
the opportunity to volunteer in the
Share-a-Bear campaign and work at
Focus: Hope as part of his mitzvah
projects.

Jennifer Beth Colton will be called
to the Torah as a bat mitzvah on
Saturday, Sept. 1, at
Adat Shalom
Synagogue. She is
the daughter of
Marcy and Tom
Colton and sister of
Michael. Proud
grandparents are
Lynne and Phil
Warheit of
Farmington Hills and Andy and Lisa
Colton of Del Ray Beach, Fla.
Jennifer is honored to have two
great-grandmothers sharing in her
joy: Rose Markle of Southfield and
Pearl Warheit of San Diego. She is
also the great-granddaughter of the
late Rose and Samuel Kreisman,
Herman and Rosa Kohn, "Pal" Sid
Markle and Jack Warheit.
Jennifer is an honor student at
Hillel Day School of Metropolitan
Detroit in Farmington Hills and
enjoys playing basketball on Hillel's
team. She is a member of Gems on
Ice, a competitive synchronized
skating team out of Plymouth. She
also competes individually as a
freestyle and dance skater. For her
mitzvah project, Jennifer volun-
teered with the Special Olympics.

Benjamin Sacha Dell will be called
to the Torah as a bar mitzvah on

Saturday, Sept. 1, at Congregation
Shaarey Zedek. He is the son of
Larry and Suzi Dell and brother of
liana and Gabriel. Sharing in his
simcha are grand-
parents Cindy and
Harold Daitch,
Elizabeth and
Joseph Silver and
great-grandmother
Goldie Levin.
Benji is also the
grandson of the
late Sacha Dell.
Benji is an honor student at
Hillel Day School of Metropolitan
Detroit in Farmington Hills. He
enjoys computers, skiing and cross-
country running. His most mean-
ingful project was working with
adults with special needs at the
Jewish Community Center of
Metropolitan Detroit.

David Feenstra will be called to the
Torah as a bar mitzvah on Saturday,
Sept. 1, at Temple Kol Ami. He is
the son of Chris and Patti Feenstra
and the older brother of Daniel
Feenstra. His
proud grandpar-
ents are Rose
Tauber and Phyllis
Feenstra. He is
also the grandson
of the late David
Tauber.
David attends
Detroit Country
Day School in Beverly Hills, where
he is an honor student. His special
interests include computers, visual
arts and science. He also enjoys
karate, swimming, skiing and boat-
ing. David's mitzvah projects includ-
ed working on the Jerry Lewis
Muscular Dystrophy Telethon and
participating in the Temple Kol Ami
Housing the Homeless project in
November 2000. He will serve as a
madrich (leader) at the Temple Kol
Ami religious school during the
2001-2002 school year.

Bethany Rae Feldman will be called
to the Torah as a bat mitzvah on
Saturday, Sept. 1, at Congregation
B'nai Moshe. She is the daughter of

and Marc
