JCC Plans
Fall Classes

Hadassah Groups
Host Author

There is a new schedule of classes and
activities at both Jewish Community
Center locations this fall. Registration
begins Sunday, Aug. 30. Classes begin
the week of Sept. 3.
For young children, the JCC offers
age-appropriate sports, including in-
line skating, soccer, tee ball, and
Kindergames, as well as arts, crafts,
music and Spanish.
Elementary-school-age boys and
girls can take a variety of sports class-
es. Among the classes for older youth
and teens are swimming, in-line skat-
ing, in-line hockey, basketball train-
ing,, Tai Chi and karate.
Adults can choose from a large
variety also.
The aquatics program offers open
swimming, lessons and competitive
swimming. Seniors can find health
and fitness classes geared to their abil-
ities. For people with special needs,
the JCC offers a variety of programs,
including art, kayaking, music, dance
and martial arts.
The JCC Travel Department offers
day trips, short excursions and
extended-stay journeys and cruises.

register for classes by fax, using a Visa

City Of Hope
Installs Board

City of Hope Greenspan, Hoffman,
Rosenberg Chapter installed new offi-
cers: Robert Harrison, president;
Ilene Wenner and Nate Light, vice
presidents; Elaine Harrison and Bertha
Gold, secretaries; Delores Schuldinger,
treasurer. Avon Muroff, Micki Kline,
Richard Gibbs, Adelle Kress. Corrine
Garvin, Marsha Baker and Lorraine
Schubiner are board members.
At a recent City of Hope conven-
tion in California, the chapter
received the Gaiter Award for out-
standing fund-raising efforts for the
National Hospital and Cancer
Research Center.
The next major event will be the
Walk for Hope Against Breast Cancer
at the Detroit Zoo on Oct. 6. For

Art, Home Tour
Aids Israel Bonds

The Women's Division Sponsor Society
of State of Israel Bonds, chaired by
Linda Hayman and Meryl Podolsky, will
host its annual art and home tour 9:30
a.m.-1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5.
The tour will visit the homes of
Madge and Bill Berman, Barbara and
Milford Nemer and Meryl and Dr.
Terry Podolsky. A petite breakfast meet-
ing will be held at the Podolsky home.
Bus transportation between the homes
will be provided.
Participation in the tour is based on a
2001 Israel Bonds purchase of $1,500 or
more. These investors will be presented
with a 2001 Israel Bonds sponsor pin,
designed for the Women's Division by
Israeli artist Tamar Onn.

Yad Ezra
Cites Winners

Yad Ezra recently sponsored a city-wide
greeting card contest for children ages 5-
15 organized-by board member Lori
Rubin. Judges Harriet Gelfond, Andrew
Lee and Linda Zalla chose winners in
the four age categories. Toba Raizel Ellis,
Mark Isakov, Jacob Kohn and Yoni Last
provided wining entries.
The cards have been printed and
are available for purchase in assorted
packages of eight cards for $25.
Orders must be received by Sept. 11.

B'nai B'rith
On Cable TV

"B'nai B'rith Presents," the new locally-
produced weekly cable TV series, has
announced the addition of CTN -
Channel 17, which reaches Ann Arbor
and Ypsilanti. It will air on CTN on
Thursdays at 9 p.m., beginning Sept. 6,
plus additional weekly repeat airings.
Info TV-Channel 12 (Time Warner
Cable) subscribers in Farmington,
Farmington Hills and Novi also will be
able to watch the program series begin-
ning in early September. Exact days
and times for airing the show will be
announced in the near future.
The program is running on
Comcast's Channel 18 on Wednesdays
at 6:30 p.m. in Hamtramck, Hazel
Park, Keego Harbor, Lathrup Village,
Madison Heights, Oak Park,
Southfield, Sylvan Lake and West
Bloomfield.
Cable TV viewers in Bloomfield
Hills, Bloomfield Twp., Beverly Hills,
Bingham Farms, Birmingham and
Franklin can watch the series on
Bloomfield Community Television's
Channels 15 and 18 on Mondays at 10
p.m., plus various repeat showings
throughout the week.
In Auburn Hills, Berkley, Clawson,
Ferndale, Huntington Woods, Oakland
Twp., Pleasant Ridge, Rochester,
Rochester Hills, Royal Oak and Troy,
the show is on Community Media
Network's Comcast Channel 52 or
WOW 18 (formerly Americast) on
Thursdays at 6:30 p.m., with repeat
showings on Fridays at 6:30 a.m.
According to the show's producers,
D.D. and Steve Fisher of A.A.A.
Productions Inc. in Oak Park, taped
events for future shows include the
B'nai B'rith Softball League
Championship Games, an Ice Cream
Social night for B'nai B'rith's Zeiger
Lodge conducted at Congregation Kol
Ami, the Marshall-Suburban-Tikvah
Lodge's annual dinner honoring
Norman Michlin, and the recent Open
House at B'nai B'rith's new regional
offices.
Upcoming events that will be video-
taped for future shows will include a
special "Tiger Baseball Day" on Sept. 9,
the B'nai B'rith Blood Drive set for
Oct. 1, and the annual Great American
Traditions Award Dinner honoring
DTE Energy Chairman and CEO
Anthony Earley Jr. on Nov. 5.
