1 hirty young, aspiring
magicians were able
to try their hand at
11111 magic during the
Hocus Pocus Camp Aug. 6-10
at the Oak Park Jewish
Community Center. The camp
was part of the Center's
Imaginativity Camp Program, a
variety of one-week specialty
camps offered throughout the
summer.
The first-fourth graders
learned one or two magic tricks
a day from magician Howard
Faber of Farmington Hills.

nails and we'd stick them on the
coins," says Cameron Swartz, 5,
of West Bloomfield.
Faber, a professional magician,
also helped the students prepare
for an end-of-the-week magic
show where each child per-
formed a trick.
"It was very exhilarating," says
Faber, who has run the camp for
the past three years. "The kids
come in knowing nothing and,
in four days, they've learned
enough to perform a magic trick
for the group.
"It's exciting to see them get
transformed in a couple of days.
This is a chance for me to give
back to the community what I
have learned.
